Initial Consultation - 45 Minute Virtual Meeting

Our initial meeting is with the student and their family to learn about their goals, what makes them unique and how we can create a personalized roadmap to help them navigate the college process.

Current Seniors

  • Learn of student’s academic strengths, interest, and goals

  • Outline the steps and timeline of the college admissions process

  • Review Transcripts, GPA, and Class Choices

  • Share how colleges measure GPA, Test Scores vs Test Optional Schools

  • Review PSAT/SAT/ ACT scores if any

  • Look at timeline for signing up for next tests, advise on test preparation

  • Compare the student’s academic profile to narrow a range of colleges

  • Review extracurricular involvement

  • Walk through big picture essay, recommendations, and deadlines

Our College Application Support option will individualize guidance and support  for students from start to finish in the application process. With professional insight and a step-by-step plan, students gain confidence and direction while families feel supported throughout the admissions process.

Before Writing: Preparation & Planning

  • Review the Common App essay prompts with the student

  • Discuss the student’s goals, background, experiences, and strengths

  • Help the student brainstorm possible essay topics

  • Evaluate which topic aligns best with the student’s authentic voice and story

  • Ensure the topic demonstrates personal growth, self-awareness, and a unique perspective

  • Encourage the student to avoid clichés or overly common themes

 

During Writing: Drafting & Development

  • Guide the student in creating an outline or structure for the essay

  • Encourage a strong hook or opening to grab the reader’s attention

  • Ensure the essay maintains a clear narrative arc or reflective structure

  • Emphasize showing, not just telling through concrete details and anecdotes

  • Provide feedback on tone, voice, clarity, and authenticity

  • Help the student stay within the 650-word limit

 

After Writing: Revising & Polishing

  • Offer detailed feedback on drafts (organization, content, grammar)

  • Check for coherence and flow throughout the essay

  • Ensure the essay answers the prompt fully and appropriately

  • Confirm that the essay reflects the student’s personality and values

  • Assist with tightening language and removing unnecessary words

  • Help the student proofread for grammar, punctuation, and spelling

 

Final Steps

  • Make sure the final version is formatted correctly for submission

  • Double-check that the student is confident and satisfied with their essay

  • Ensure the essay is uploaded properly to the Common App

  • Provide support for supplemental essays, if applicable
